We’re always happy to share incredible animal rescue stories. Some of these stories begin with heartbreaks: owners abandoning or torturing their animals, but with some amazingly kind people or rescue groups, we end up feeling happy and grateful that these poor animals are finally saved and even some of them are now living the life they deserve with their new families. This story is about a dog named Zeus. Zeus was dumped by his owners because he was paralyzed, but one woman came to his rescue and helped him walk again.

Zeus had degenerative nerve disease, which resulted in his condition and apparently, his owners didn’t think he was worth the effort and the money to be kept in the house any longer. So, they surrendered him to a high-kill animal shelter in Oklahoma. Luckily for this good boy, volunteers at St. Francis Care, Illinois, decided to give him a second chance.

After receiving treatments, Zeus’ condition improved and he’s now walking with the help of a custom made wheelchair. Speaking of his determination, his former foster mom and his current owner, Lynda Kuether, said: “There are so many more like him that don’t get a chance. In a throw away society he is a shining example of what happens when you don’t throw something away. You don’t have to be perfectly healthy to be the perfect pet.”

Today, Zeus not only walks, but he is able to run and climb, too. Isn’t his life story incredible? If you want to learn more, check the video below and share it with friends.
