A FedEx worker from Georgia is being hailed as a hero for his efforts in setting up a GoFundMe page to help purchase a new car for his co-worker, Darlene Quinn. While the story initially went viral after Quinn shared the news on Facebook, the real hero behind the fundraiser has now stepped forward.
In a separate post, the humble FedEx worker thanked everyone who had participated in the fundraiser, but claimed he didn’t deserve recognition for his good deed. He wrote that his goal was to bless Darlene and encourage people to get to know their neighbors. He was inspired to help his colleague after two friends had helped him just a few months prior when he himself was in need. He explained that he desperately needed to furnish his apartment and a vehicle to transport the items for the move but lacked the funds and didn’t know what to do. That’s when two friends who he “had not seen in almost 11 years” stepped up and offered him some much-needed assistance by offering him furniture for free.
Boss McDaniel and his wife, on the other hand, realized Lewis needed a reliable vehicle for work, so he took it upon himself to buy him one. Lewis admitted that if it weren’t for the generosity of these two families, there is no way he would be where he is today, and the whole campaign for Quinn can be traced back to their deeds.
The story of Lewis and Quinn’s kindness has become an inspiration for many and highlights the importance of community and looking out for one another. The selfless acts of these individuals have touched the hearts of many, reminding us all that we have the power to make a difference in each other’s lives
