I really don’t understand why a person will have to adopt a pet and then later abandon it to die in the streets. Research shows that the number of neglected dogs is increasing in the whole world, at an alarming rate.

Eight months ago, a dog of the pit bull breed named Benny was found loitering in the streets. He was caught and taken to a shelter in Carson Animal Care Center found in Gerdena, whereby stray animals are killed. For eight months, he was there waiting to be adopted and if not, the shelter was to kill him, just like other abandoned dogs in this shelter at Gardena.

Luck was by his side when he managed to escape the death row on December 10th. A family had come to the shelter to look for a dog to adopt when they spotted Benny and felt an instant attraction towards him. In the clip below, you can clearly see how Benny reacts when the door of his kennel at the shelter is opened. He just had the instinct that he was to be free once again.

Benny’s tail is wagging like crazy as they leash him up, and he literally jumps for joy as he walks away from his kennel for good.

“This special little guy captured the hearts of everyone who stopped by his kennel. He hit the jackpot when this beautiful family chose to take him home,” wrote Saving Carson Shelter Dogs on Facebook.
