As reported by Inside Edition, Tony Gibson succumbed to Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease at the age of 33. The rare condition manifested in December 2017, initially showing symptoms of random forgetfulness and disorientation. Danielle resorted to labeling items around the house to assist Tony.

The situation rapidly worsened until doctors at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville conclusively identified the disease after a month of extensive testing. Tony was diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, a rare and degenerative brain disorder that can be acquired through contaminated meat or inherited genetically. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this fatal condition, and patients typically face death within a year of diagnosis.

Throughout Tony’s struggle with the progressive symptoms, Danielle stood by him, offering strength and support. In the final moments, she sat by his side, singing his favorite hymn, “Amazing Grace.” The poignant video of this moment was shared on Facebook. In honor of her late husband, Danielle initiated a crowdfunding page to raise awareness about Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease and support their children
