Despite Resto’s initial hesitation not to disturb the stranger on the subway, he made sure the man could wear the shirt by assisting him in putting it on.
“He appeared so weak and frail,” Resto recounted. “I felt compelled to assist him; otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to wear it.”
Unaware of being filmed, Resto’s act of kindness was purely driven by compassion.
“It was just a spontaneous gesture,” Resto stated. “I can’t fathom ignoring someone in need when you have extra to offer.”
Though feeling remorseful for not providing warmer clothing, Resto’s girlfriend, Yanisleidy Martinez, expressed pride in his altruistic nature, describing him as naturally giving and caring.
“While others merely observe, he takes action,” Martinez remarked. “He recognized a need and addressed it.”
